I Assume a scale of D major in my mind now. You start midway at its relative minor and then when it modulated to the absolute major of the same key signature at that point (i.e., B minor to B Major) - it gets obvious :-)
ReplyDeleteHere is the answer:
You started from, "Singam Puli Kooda...Jodi Onnu Theda.." (B minor/ E Major sequence) and finish at "Andha Mana magal dhan vandha Yogamada" in the pallavi... (D, A 7th, A 7th, D)
The song: "Pudhu maapillaikku" (Aboorva Sagodharargal)
Superb Kumar.. That transition of chord just before and during "Ennalum naan aanpillai dhaan" is possible only by Maestro Raaja..
I think Raaja must have been inspired by Santa claus based carols to set the arrangement similar to Rain deers pulling the cartwheel in snow.. ;-)
You shouldn't have posted the last few bars of the clip.. it sort of gives it away..
With Love
Vicky
You started from, "Singam Puli Kooda...Jodi Onnu Theda.." (B minor/ E Major sequence) should be "B minor/ F# Major"; I was visualizing the progressions in mind and hence a typo..

Vicky/Kumar,
ReplyDeleteIf you remember the second charam "Chinna vizhi meenu" has been picturised in a snowfall kind of set.As Vicky pointed out that Raaja might have got inspired by Santa Carols i feel the director might have discussed the pictcurisation of the song with Raaja. I remember Raaja was talking about a hindi music director (Salil chowdary) who used to ask for each and every detail of a situation to compose a song like What dress the heroine is wearing, what jewels etc.
